Paediatric Biomechanics for Podiatrists

Paediatric Biomechanics for Podiatrists

Paediatric Biomechanics for Podiatrists

Workshop Focus: Paediatrics
Date: 22 March 2022

Ms. Anne W Paré was invited by the Association of Podiatric Medicine (Singapore) to present on the biomechanics for paediatric podiatry on 22 Mar 2022. With more informed parents today comes a greater demand for paediatric podiatry, and hence the need for podiatrists to deepen their knowledge on paediatric biomechanics.

Early gross motor development begins in utero and continues throughout childhood. Normal developmental changes lead to energy-efficient walking, a strong and well-balanced body, and the emergence of advanced gross motor skills such as running, jumping, and kicking a ball.

The sharing by Ms. Paré has benefitted our Association member podiatrists as they gain insights on how to look at the child from a holistic developmental approach to improve clinical outcomes.

About the Speaker

Ms. Anne W Paré is a certified orthotist with over 27 years of experience specialising in paediatrics, spinal cord, and brain injury in the Greater Houston area, USA. She currently assumes the role of a clinical researcher and educator at Surestep, where she works on tracking the medical effectiveness of their products on children, developing new products as well as conducting educational courses for physical and occupational therapists and orthotists.

Ms. Paré has been actively participating in Orthotics and Prosthetics conferences in Texas, and has spoken on subjects of orthotic management for paediatric patients both nationally and internationally. Ms. Paré is also the founder of Hope Orthotics, a paediatric orthotic clinical practice in the Houston area, now operating as Transcend Orthotics & Prosthetics.
