Our Vision & Mission

Our Vision & Mission

The association’s goals are to develop and enhance the interest of podiatric medicine in Singapore, to encourage retention of podiatric professionals by promoting the professional standing of the field, and elevate our quality in public and private health through professional seminars and training.

To develop and clarify society’s understanding of podiatry’s role in the healthcare system and ensure that podiatry is regarded as an essential medicine in the prevention of lower limb or associated life loss.  The profession must become established in order to deter encroachment of its specialist scope by unlicensed enterprises and individuals.

To create opportunities for students to pursue a local education in podiatric medicine and provide them with guidance in their career as private or public healthcare professionals.

The association endeavours to ensure that the profession of podiatry is protected and thriving with a full scope of practice encompassing public health, specialist care, surgery, and general practice, while making a vital contribution to the health of the population.

The association campaigns to raise awareness of podiatry amongst health professionals, government bodies, and the general public while supporting podiatrists through focused training events and workshops conducted by experts in the field.

The association works in conjunction with established foreign universities to establish podiatric medicine programmes in a local context, thus allowing local students to pursue a local degree in podiatric medicine.

The association is developing a suitable set of guidelines and standards of care for podiatrists which all members must adhere to in order to ensure they are complying with membership requirements and practising to the highest standard of care. These policies will integrate local contexts with the support of podiatrists from multiple countries (UK, Australia, USA, Brunei, Malaysia).
